Grey is the new black this season! Move aside the sparkly white ensembles and black LBD. Grey is taking over the new black, this winter.
WHAT’S THE PONDEROUS DEAL ABOUT IT?
A softer option to black, grey is being regarded as strong, yet warm and sub dued hue and can be effortlessly elegant. It’s the turn of the little grey dress or the LGD instead of the regular LBD. Grey can be worn in so many hues – you have dark steel, dove grey, charcoal, slate and steel in plains, like herringbones, twee da, checks and plaids. Take grey from drab to fab in these ways…
WEAR IT WITH DIFFERENT PRINTS
Why go monochrome? While the most popular way to wear it is a single flowing piece of garment like a long trench coat, or even a single colour jacket, you can effectively show off the colour in a printed blouse, a dress with black stripes or even a geometric print scarf.
GREY ON GREY: RAMPWALK TREND FOR 2015
The hue also featured prominently in international fashion week’s this year end. For men, it meant grey blazer with grey jeans or a grey suit with a matching grey tie, which is more conservative, for women it was everything from power pinstripes to dresses and jumpsuits.Murky grey nail polish was also spotted at a fashion week in New York.
ACCESSORIES TO MATCH
For a formal look, wear a white or black print scarf, silver rhinestones clutch with heels to match, suede ballet flats, grey tie-up sandals or even some metal jewellery. For an edgier look, go with a choker or bib necklace and a metal cuff.
JAZZ UP THE OFFICE PULLOVER
Wear pop color nails with your sweater If you have a grey cardigan or sweater on, spice up the ensemble with a red lipstick, a smart clutch or pop colour nails for some casual chic.
WHY GO DULL? SHIMMER ON!
Who says grey has to just be worn in a sweater, a tailored jacket or pants? Bring the bling on stylishly in a long sequinned dress. Try the jacket with a white shirt slim fit black pants, a one-shoulder top or even a mini skirt with a plain top.
PSST! GREY HAIR WAS HOT, TOO!
Hollywood didn’t cover up, either! Grey hair was called `The New Blonde’ and several A-listers also showed off the look. Everyone from Rihanna to Kate Moss, and Kylie Jenner sported a grey-silver tinted mane. Lady Gaga even tried grey hair with dip-dyed ends that looked quite cool.
RULES TO WEAR THE COLOUR
If you’re going for an headto-toe ensemble, wear a different clutch to offset the look. Try orange or pink.Offset an all-grey dress with a floral sash or a slim-fit belt at the waist.
Wearing grey to work? Try a black and white scarf or just simple gold earring studs.
Avoid neon hues as this shade belongs to a softer palette, so go with coral, softshell pink or peach, instead.
If you’re wearing a grey sweater with a shirt, make sure the colour palettes are different. You can also go mix light grey with a darker grey!
